VRV is a commercially applied air-conditioning and heating system that distributes refrigerant, rather than water, to multiple fan coils units in the conditioned spaces.  VRV systems are available in several versions:

 

VRV III - Air-cooled condesing unit
Commercial sites can range in size from a few hundred to several thousands of square feet. That's why Daikin offers the new VRV III system with advanced features to meet practically any challenge. The VRV III system is the seventh generation of the original Daikin VRV launched in 1982. Completely re-engineered to realize opportunities for VRV in taller / larger buildings, it utilizes the latest advances in refrigeration and airconditioning technology. It is widely used worldwide in applications such as: Healthcare, Hotels & Conference facilities, Offices, Residential multi-units, Restaurants, Retail stores, Schools, and more.

VRVIII is also available in heat recovery version allowing for simultaneous heating and cooling from a single system. Modern office buildings are highly airtight and subject to an increasing heat load due to the use of computers, lighting equipment and other office equipment. In these buildings some rooms may require artificial cooling even in winter, depending on the amount of sunshine received and the number of people in the room. In order to meet such requirements the Heat Recovery Series enables the simultaneous operation of cooling and heating by controlling the BS unit that switches cooling and heating. This series also substantially improves energy efficiency by recycling exhaust heat.

VRV-WII - Water-cooled condensing unit

The Water-cooled VRV (VRV-WII) offers an energy-saving alternative to traditional centralized equipment. The VRV-WII is used extensively worldwide in skyscrapers where the use of a cooling tower and boiler are necessary. Its remarkable compact and lightweight structure makes installation of VRV technology in large buildings possible. At only 330 lbs. and less than 40” high, the VRV-WII can take a ride up the elevator to be installed in a machine room. It is a perfect fit for hotels and conference facilities, offices and universities, especially in urban-packed areas.

A water loop is necessary between the VRV-WII condensing units installed and a cooling tower and/or boiler.

The VRV-WII design is based on a “modular design” concept. It is composed of unified condensing units that require simply to connect a 2-Pipe Refrigerant Network for Heat Pump Applications or a 3-Pipe for Heat Recovery Applications. All Water Cooled Condensers are in the same cabinet, but are available in a variety of capacities (5-Ton, 6-Ton & 7-Ton). A simple system that allows manifolding together up to 3 Condensers to form one system of 21-Ton (252MBH). The condensers are designed for Internal mounting only.

  •  The efficiency and capacity of air cooled systems reduces with extreme ambient conditions causing systems to be oversized and increasing first cost.
  • Extreme piping lengths cause a capacity reduction; positioning VRV-WII floor by floor can reduce the capacity reduction and improve the efficiency of the system. Also, long piping lengths cause a capacity reduction, positioning VRV-WII floor by floor can reduce the capacity reduction and improve the efficiency of the system.
  • Utilizing an existing condenser loop and associated heat rejection/injection will reduce first cost.
  • Where the building has diverse loads and energy can be recovered through the VRV-WII system and/or the water loop. 

 

 

VRV-S - Air-cooled condensing unit. The solution for light commercial, condominium and residential applications.

The VRV-S completes the mix of VRV systems offering by allowing the technology to be available at smaller capacity. With 1 phase power supply 208-230V, it is available with an air-cooled heat pump condenser. A maximum of 6 indoors unit for the 3-Ton and 8 indoor units for the 4-Ton model, the versatility of the VRV-S makes it ideal for most light commercial or residential projects — retail store, small office, restaurant, hotel, healthcare facility, school, multi-family townhouse, condo or single-family home.

The VRV-S system is a high efficient solution for small offices requiring heating and cooling of up to 8 zones. In a small office installation, a combination of ducted and duct-free indoor units can be combined to provide individual comfort and ease of installation. Imagine the reception, the meeting room, the president’s office, all part of the same system but yet able to have different set temperature, being off without affecting other areas realizing tremendously energy savings compared to traditional centralized systems.

Whether you’re working with space constraints or want to maximize the amount of commercial space available, the VRV-S system gives you the flexibility you need. With its simple, versatile design and long piping (Up to 492ft actual piping length one way), the VRV-S can accommodate practically any floor layout, enabling better use of space.
Its advanced zoning capabilities allow floor-by-floor installation so t
hat each floor can be occupied quickly upon completion. And, because the outdoor units are lightweight and vibration-free, there’s no need to reinforce floors, reducing both installation time and costs.

A VRV-S system can connect up to 8 indoor fan coils from one system. It is ideal in residential applications where every zones can be individually controlled to save energy. Imaging a house where the master bedroom can be controlled independently from the other bedroom (and turn off the units in guest rooms), where the living space can be set at 75F when the kitchen can be set lower if the entire family is reunited. That's the power of the VRV-S.

 














In a VRV system, there is no need for:

  • Large plant room
  • In most cases, no structural reinforcement
